August 2022
Dear Constituent,
Thank you for contacting me about care reform.
I believe that improving the quality of care in the UK should be one of our highest priorities. The coronavirus pandemic has only served to highlight the importance of the work done by 1.65 million people in caring for others, and I am extremely grateful to everyone who works in this field.
I am proud to support a Government that is committed to tackling the challenges in social care, creating a sustainable adult care system that is fit for the future Over the next three years, £1.7 billion will be spent to improve the lives of those who receive care, as well as their families and carers. This includes £500 million investment in the social care workforce, a £300 million Housing Transformation Fund, to help local authorities increase the range and amount of new supported housing and £150 million to drive new technology and digitisation across social care.
A qualified and skilled workforce that is rewarded and feels valued is essential for high quality care that is sensitive to individual needs. This is why I warmly welcome the publication of the Adult Social Care Reform White Paper.
I know the Government will be working closely with care leaders and staff to take forward the policies in the strategy and I will be ensuring the view of my constituents are heard as part of this process.
Thank you again for writing to me about your concerns.
With best wishes.
Kind regards,
Jonathan Lord MP
